CID stands for Crime Investigation Department. The position of CID officer is one of the most respected in the police force. You will be referred to as a CID officer or Detectives when you begin working in this department.

How to Become a CID Officer

In India, you must pass the Union Public Services Commission’s Civil Services Exam (CSE) to become a CID Officer (UPSC). To become a CID Officer, you must first join the police force, pass the internal test, and then apply for the position of CID Officer. A bachelor’s degree in criminology will help you crack UPSC.

Citizenship

To work as a CID officer, you must be an Indian citizen.

Sex

Both males and females are eligible to take the CID officer exam.

Age Restriction

To work as a CID Officer, you must be at least 20 years old. The General Category has a maximum age requirement of 27 years. According to the caste category, the maximum age restriction is relaxed.
